Check out the new WhatsApp colorful text-based status update

WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature with its recent update which allows users to add status updates with a colorful background. Previously, you could only update photos and videos as status. It’s similar to Facebook’s colorful status updates which allow users to add a link and choose a font of their choice. Reports show that over 250 million people are using WhatsApp Status feature globally. WhatsApp colorful text-based status will roll out to Android and iOS users, and users can also view this on the desktop app as well.

WhatsApp colored text-based status may not be seen as an exceptional feature, but you won’t say it’s useless either. The text-based status feature will let users update to their contacts in a more fun, personal way.

As usual, WhatsApp status only lasts 24 hours, and you can see who has viewed your status updates. Same applies for the colorful text-based status update. WhatsApp Status feature has privacy settings which let users decide who can view their updates. Users can pick from “my contacts,” “contacts except…” and “only share with…

The Status updates are also now part of the desktop version, though you can’t upload a status update from the desktop.

If the update is not yet available on the app store, you can get it HERE

What I see is they might introduce advertisement since the text status supports clickable links
